Challenge outrageous claims – here’s how.

I’ve just finished watching “Here be Dragons”, a 40 minute long video by Brian Dunning, the host of the Skeptoid podcast. I highly recommend it and have embedded the video here. If you’d prefer to watch a higher quality version or get it on DVD, visit the web site herebedragonsmovie.com.

As an introduction to critical thinking, Brian has done a great job of explaining some of the key principles of scientific enquiry and offers up some useful tools for challenging the claims of pseudo-science. He does this without resorting to mockery, patronisation, or by presuming authority.

If everyone could take away at least one thing from this short video, we might have a more progressive world in which snake oil salesman and self-interest groups peddling misinformation, are bereft of their gullible audience.
